SHORT MAT BOWLS

The Club was founded in 2003 and usually meets on the fourth Saturday each month except December from 13.45 until 16.15pm in Holwell Village Hall.  We use two mats, each around 25 metres long and can provide spare bowls for use by players who do not have their own.

There are no annual fees but players pay a Mat Fee of £2 whenever they come. These fees help to cover the hire of the village hall plus the renewal of any necessary equipment. Fees may be subject to change from time to time.

Our aim is to provide some light exercise in a friendly but competitive spirit with members playing in teams against each other. We have two sessions each afternoon of six or eight ends with a tea-break between. Teams are drawn for each session allowing a mix of players. The rules mirror closely those for outdoor bowls.

We welcome anyone who would like to try out the sport but it would be advisable to contact beforehand in case we have had to change to a different Saturday.

CONTACTS: Patrick Constable (01963 23355) or Heather Punter (01258 818171)
